Rodney Crowell was awarded the Americana Song of The Year for "Fate's Right Hand" at the 2004 Americana Music Awards on September 25, 2004 in Nashville. The song is from the album of the same name, which landed on numerous year-end Top 10 newspaper and magazine lists last year. The New York Daily News wrote, "the long-running country songwriter captured a midlife crisis at its most crushing and eloquent," and Richard Skanse in Rolling Stone wrote the album was, "The sound of a master songwriter at the absolute top of his game."
In addition to accepting the award, Rodney also performed his new song, DON'T GET ME STARTED, to the delight of the audience. The awards show was taped for later broadcast on the Great American Country channel. In other news: Rodney's guitarist, Will Kimbro, was awarded Instrumentalist Of The Year at the ceremony. |
